We, the undersigned residents of Leicester, call on the
Leicester City Council to urgently address the vulnerability of
apex galleried windows in our neighbourhoods. Currently, there is
no Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) policy protecting these
architectural features. As a result, intrusive first-floor
extension developments are being approved. These developments block
natural light and destroy the essential purpose of apex windows,
which is to provide healthy, natural outlooks and
illumination.
Without clear local planning guidance, residents are at risk of
losing their amenity, light, privacy, well-being, and property
value.
