Purpose:

To approve the second phase of the Victoria Park Centenary Park project commencing in 2015/16.

Decision:

To approve phase 2 of the Victoria Park Centenary Walk scheme – the creation of a new processional route at Victoria Park, works to the tennis courts and associated landscaping around the existing car parking areas. 

 

To approve capital expenditure of £1.86m for phase 2, to be funded by the balance of £1.26m from the Economic Action Plan provision and £600k from a combination of prudential borrowing (to be repaid by additional car parking income), developer contributions and revenue contributions.

Reasons for the decision:

Following on from the completion of phase 1 (toilet block construction), a  City Mayor decision is required to approve the next stage of the project and add to the capital programme.

 

Funding for the project will be met from resources set aside from the Local Economic Action Plan along with prudential borrowing and revenue contributions.
