a)   a reduction in the existing speed limit from 40mph to 30mph on the following roads:-

  • Abbey Lane from its junction with Blackbird Road and Abbey Park Road to a point approximately 80m north of Thurcaston Road.
  • Blackbird Road from its junction with Bradgate Street to its junction with Abbey Lane and St Margaret’s Way
  • St Margaret’s Way from its junction with Blackbird Road and Abbey Park Road to a point in line with the southern side of Friday Street.

b)    advertisement of the Speed Limit Order required to implement the scheme

18/01/2023 - Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and Ball Court reinvestment - release of capital provision ref: 1319    Recommendations Approved

The to invest £600k of capital money towards the redevelopment of a number of multi-use game areas and ballcourt areas on sites across the city. The first phase of works will take place in 2022/23 and 2023/24.

Approve the addition of £615k to the Council’s capital programme for reinvestment in the Council’s Multi Use Games Area and Ball Court areas (3 sites), with £600k being released from a policy provision held for this purpose and £15k from s106 contributions.

16/01/2023 - Proposed Development of Winstanley Contact Centre ref: 1318    Recommendations Approved

To approve the refurbishment of the Winstanley Centre, which was previously a community centre, and to establish a bespoke contact centre for children in the care of the Local Authority (CLA) and their families.

1)    To approve the conversion of the Winstanley Centre on Blackmore Road (which was formerly a community centre) into a new contact centre, for children looked after by the Local Authority and their families.

 

2)    To approve capital expenditure of £685k for the development works at Winstanley Centre, which will be funded by the Extra Care Schemes policy provision (current balance £4.5m).
