Purpose:
1.1 To seek approval to lease St Margaret’s Pastures Sports Centre (SMP) to Leicester Hockey Club (LHC) that will enable their return to the city.
1.2 The relocation will enable the club to develop a facility suitable for their status and to enable enhanced community use of the site.
Decision:
That Leicester Hockey Club are granted a 25 lease of St Margaret’s Pastures on the terms outlined in the report.
Reasons for the decision:
To bring an elite sports club of hockey back to the city, allowing the club to have security of tenure on a building that they can develop and grow grass roots hockey participation.
Alternative options:
Variety of locations considered for the club to return to the City, from: schools, leisure centres, green spaces and brownfield sites.
