Decision Maker: Deputy City Mayor - Transport, Clean Air and Climate Emergency
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: Yes
To update the council’s Environmental Policy which sets out the council’s goals for protecting and improving the environment and supporting Leicester to become a carbon-neutral and climate adapted city.
To approve the city council’s updated Environmental Policy and publish it on the council’s website.
The council’s existing Environmental Policy was last updated in 2016. An updated version is required to reflect the council’s declaration of a climate emergency, it’s adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and other changes to the council’s environment-related work.
The option of not updating the policy was rejected, as the existing policy is out of date and does not reflect the council’s current approach and practices.
