Decision:

80 Ocean Road, Leicester, LE5 2ES. (CPO 72).

NB. The appendix to the report is marked ‘Not for Publication’ because it contains exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1 & 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 as amended: i.e. “Information relating to any individual” and ‘’Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the Authority holding that information)’’

Reasons for the decision:

A Compulsory Purchase Order is sought because the property has been vacant for over 4 years and the owner has not responded to the council’s requests to bring the property back into use.

Achieving this will contribute towards our strategic objective to “Improved our environment to make local neighbourhoods and the city centre places for people to be proud of”. This will also assist in creating thriving safe communities, improving wellbeing and health, promoting neighbourhood sustainability and preventing areas from becoming rundown.

Alternative options:

This action is being taken as a ‘last resort’ as the Owner has failed to co-operate by taking action to bring the property back into use. The owner has failed to respond to Council officers’ various attempts to contact the owner. Without a Compulsory Purchase Order it is very likely that the property will remain unimproved and unoccupied.
