To accept £2.97m Department for Transport Zebra grant and add it to the Capital Programme to enable FirstBus to provide new electric buses and associated equipment
Decision:
To approve £2.97m is added to the Capital Programme to provide grant to FirstBus for new electric buses and associated equipment.
This addition will be funded in full by The City Council accepting corresponding Department for Transport ZEBRA grant.
Reasons for the decision:
To provide funds to introduce a further 18 electric buses in order to improve air quality in Leicester as part of the Connecting Leicester programme.
Alternative options:
Not apply for grant funding.
FirstBus has confirmed it would not invest in this area unless partly supported by government grant.
