To seek approval to accept funding for the delivery of Skills Bootcamps across Leicester and Leicestershire for delivery from April 2024 to March 2025.

To approve that the Council

(i) accepts Department for Education (DfE) funding of £2.1m for Skills Bootcamps, and

(ii)  approves for the City Council to act as Accountable body for this funding.

This project will support training for unemployed and employed individuals to upskill themselves in a range of subjects across digital marketing, cyber security and highways which will help grow the economy and create further employment opportunities for the individuals.

To do nothing would limit the support available to residents to gain new skills which in turn would hinder their employment opportunities and impact local businesses and Leicester’s economy.
