Purpose:

To take forward decisions with regard to the design and funding of the planned changes to the Haymarket Bus Station.

Decision:

A new layout of Haymarket Bus Station redevelopment be adopted for more detailed work and confidential consultation with the land owner and bus companies.

 

The terms of land acquisition as detailed in the report be approved, to be funded from the 2012/2013 capital programme.

 

Funding of £300k is approved from the current financial year to progress the bus station and highway design.

Reasons for the decision:

To progress city centre bus improvements for the benefit of the local economy, local people and the city centre generally.

Alternative options:

Several options were considered to provide extra bus stands in the city centre. These were at different locations and different layouts at the Haymarket Bus Station.
