Decision details

VICTORIA PARK CENTENARY WALK

Decision Maker: City Mayor (Individual Decision)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

To approve the first phase of work of the Victoria Park Centenary Walk.

To release £240,000 from capital funding for first phase of works to commence in 2013/14.

Reasons for the decision:

Following on from the public consultation exercise in July / August 2013, approval is required to allow for the detailed design work to start and planning application to be submitted for the first phase of works, in order to allow work on start to commence in 2013/14.

Funding for the project will be met from resources set aside for Phase 2 of the Local Economic Action Plan. It is recommended the scheme is added to the capital programme.

Alternative options:

Approval of the first phase of the project will allow for many of the preliminary works to be undertaken, such as the moving of the services as required by the project master plan. This will enable the second phase of works to be carried out in late 2014/15. A non-decision would restrict the works on site, adding additional time and creating potential delays.
