CEASING FUNDING FOR THE INDEPENDENT LIVING FLOATING SUPPORT SERVICE

Decision Maker: Assistant City Mayor - Adult Social Care And Wellbeing

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To approve savings that will contribute to the Council’s Spending Review Programme 4, which requires Adult Social Care to deliver savings for 2019/20

Decision:

To cease the funding for the Independent Living Floating Support service with effect from 31 October 2018, on the basis as outlined in the report.

Reasons for the decision:

To deliver savings of £545,000, which will contribute towards the ASC Spending Review Programme 4, required savings target of £5.5m.for 2019/20.  This is a non-statutory service and the report was considered by the Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission on 19 June and supported the proposal.

Alternative options:

1.         Continue to deliver the service at its current levels.

2.         Negotiate reducing the level of funding with the existing provider.

3.         Procure a new contract at a reduced funding level.

None of these options would deliver the required level of savings
