Purpose:

Approve savings from the remodelling of early help services delivered through the 0-19 Children, Young People and Families Centres and the gradual reduction of grant funding of the Adventure Playgrounds.

Decision:

(1)       To approve the proposed revised model and its implementation, including the transfer of buildings in order that the targeted £3.6M saving can be realised (The final service proposals are outlined in Table 1 on page 6 f the Executive Decision report).

 

(2)       To note the comments of the Children, Young People and Schools Scrutiny Commission, which considered the proposals on 6 March 2017. 

Reasons for the decision:

Develop a reduced, remodelled and effective council Early Help service, achieving recurring savings by April 2018. The new service will focus on supporting children, young people and families who are identified as vulnerable and young children in need of early childhood services.

Alternative options:

The proposals were formed and have subsequently been revised following a thorough consultation process.  Details of the consultation are included in section 6 of the Executive Report.
