FUTURE MODEL OF INTEGRATED LIFESTYLE SERVICES

Decision Maker: Deputy City Mayor - with responsibilities for Environment, Public Health and Health Integration

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To implement an option for integrating lifestyle services.

Decision:

(1)  To integrate lifestyle services (active lifestyles scheme, stop smoking service, healthy lifestyle hub).

(2)  To reduce spending on lifestyle services by a further £605k by 2019/20 as outlined in the report.

(3)  To form a single healthy lifestyles team with specialist staff retaining areas of focus but a shift to more holistic services; introducing mechanisms that will support people in their transition from lifestyle services into universal services.

(4)  A single point of access with one IT system, single admin function and a team based in one office.

(5)  To invest in an Active Leicester website and explore how best to harness digital support.

(6)  To develop a volunteer network and training package to support health champions contributing to healthy lifestyles.

(7)  To conduct staff reviews as appropriate and in line with LCC policies and procedures.

Reasons for the decision:

Alternative options:

Options considered included the cessation of some or all of lifestyle services. This was deemed to be inappropriate and not in the best interests of city residents or the local authority. Alternatively, consideration was given to a reduction across all services but retaining separate teams. This offered less in terms of efficiencies and was not in line with a move to more holistic services.
