APPOINTMENT OF CHAIR

Members are asked to appoint a Chair for the meeting.

The Committee conducted interviews for the above post and considered making an appointment.

 

RESOLVED:

That an appointment be made as indicated by the Committee.

 

The full decision is recorded in the private section of the Minutes as it contains exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Schedule 12 of the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1990, that is information relating to an individual and the public interest in maintaining confidentiality is considered to outweigh the public interest in publishing the information.

Members are asked to note the change in membership from the shortlisting that took place on 17 January 2008. This is due to unavoidable clashes and the need to carry out interviews expediently.

MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO NOTE

 

Under the law, the Cabinet is entitled to consider certain items in private.  Members of the public will be asked to leave the meeting when such items are discussed.

 

The Cabinet is recommended to consider the following reports in private on the grounds that they contain ‘exempt’ information as defined by the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, as amended and consequently that the Cabinet makes the following resolution:-

 

“that the press and public be excluded during consideration of the following reports in accordance with the provisions of Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended, because they involve the likely disclosure of 'exempt' information, as defined in the Paragraphs detailed below of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act and taking all the circumstances into account, it is considered that the public interest in maintaining the information as exempt outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

7.

FURTHER ASSESSMENT OF CANDIDATES

Following the shortlisting of candidates which took place on 17 January 2008, further assessment panels were carried out by officers of the Children and Young People’s Department on 5 and 6 March 2008. Members are asked to note the outcomes of these assessments which will be reported verbally to the Committee.

Members noted the outcomes of the further assessment of candidates following shortlisting and noted the resulting list of interviewees for the post.
