ELECTION OF CHAIR

Councillors will elect a Chair for the meeting.

Councillor Cleaver was elected Chair for the meeting.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The first main item on theagenda is Declarations of Interest where Councillors have to say if there is anything on the agenda they have a personal interest in. For example if a meeting was due to discuss a budget application put forward by a community group and one of the Councillors was a member of that group, they would not be able to take part in the decision on that budget application.

 

Councillors are asked to declare any interest they may have in the business on the agenda, and/or indicate that Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 applies to them.

The minutes of the previous Eyres Monsell Community Meeting, held on 17th January 2013 are attached, and Members are asked to confirm them as a correct record.

RESOLVED:

that the minutes of the previous meeting held on 17 January 2013 be confirmed as a correct record.

GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR APPROVAL

Councillors are reminded that they will need to declare any interest they may have in budget applications, and/or indicate that Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 applies to them.

 

To consider the following applications for grants from the 2012/13 Eyres Monsell Ward Community Budget:-

 

a)    Eyres Monsell Horticultural & Craft Show - £250 – submitted by Community Based Horticultural Show.

b)    Eyres Monsell Spring Festival - £1,300 – submitted by Eyres Monsell Events Committee.

c)    Eyres Monsell Seated Exercise Group - £1,400 – submitted by Ann Mills.

d)    Youth Work Sessions - £500 – Gold Hill Play

e)    Shiny - £150 – The Spark Arts for Children.

 

A budget information sheet is attached to the agenda for information.

 

 

 

Minutes:

The Chair explained that the following funding applications had been received and considered by the Ward Councillors.

 

Proposal: The Eyres Monsell Horticultural & Craft Show

Submitted by: Community Based Horticultural Show

Amount requested: £250

 

RESOLVED:

                        that the funding application be supported to the value of £250.

 

Proposal: Eyres Monsell Spring Festival

Submitted by: Eyres Monsell Events Committee

Amount requested: £1,300

 

RESOLVED:

                        that the funding application be supported to the value of £1,300

 

Proposal: Eyres Monsell Seated Exercise Group

Submitted by: Eyres Monsell Events Committee

Amount requested: £1,400

 

Members approved the application, but requested a full breakdown of the costs be provided to them.

 

RESOLVED:

                        that the funding application be supported to the value of £1,400, and full information be provided to Members.

 

Proposal: Youth Work Sessions

Submitted by: Goldhill Play

Amount requested: £500

 

Members were minded to support the application for the full amount, but requested further information on the application.

 

RESOLVED:

                        that of further information be sought on the Youth Work sessions.

 

Proposal:      Shiny – an interactive performance event for early year’s children (6 months – 4 years) and their families.

Amount requested: £150 (joint bid – 6 wards in total)

 

RESOLVED:

                        that the funding application be supported to the value of £150.

 

Proposal:      Steel Pans Workshop

Submitted by: Steve Joseph

Amount requested: £425

 

RESOLVED:

                        that the funding application be supported to the value of £425.

 

The meeting heard that after the above applications had been supported, there was a balance of £3,370 in the Eyres Monsell community meeting budget.

 

The Chair explained that £2,000 of the community meeting budget would be used for costs incurred for the Community Action Days, for example, printing and publicity costs. The balance of £1,370 would be used to fund supported applications received before the end of the financial year 2012-13.
