Minutes:

PRESENTATION OF ILLUMINATED ADDRESS

The Lord Mayor made a presentation of an Illuminated Address to Roger Blackmore who was Lord Mayor from May 2009 to May 2010.  On his leaving office, (former) Councillor Coley gave a vote of thanks to Roger for his hard work during his year of office, which Council had no hesitation in agreeing with.

The Lord Mayor stated that Roger had been an extremely hardworking, dedicated and hugely popular Lord Mayor and Councillor who brought great purpose and dignity to the work and had been a great ambassador for the City.  The Lord Mayor expressed his pleasure to be able to present Roger with a leather-bound illuminated copy of the vote of thanks.

Mr Blackmore thanked his Lady Mayoress and all those who had helped him during his time in office and especially those who had helped with the appeal which amongst other improvements enabled the opening of two new play huts at the Mablethorpe Leicester children’s holiday centre.

PRESENTATION TO FORMER SENIOR VICE PRINCIPAL OF BABINGTON COLLEGE

The Lord Mayor informed Council that earlier in the summer, Mrs Elizabeth Needham retired from the post of Senior Vice-Principal of Babington Community Technology College, having influenced the lives of literally thousands of young people in our City.  Mrs Needham began working at Babington when the school first opened in 1981 and so spent a total of 30 years working there.  With a career spanning four decades the Lord Mayor acknowledged Mrs Needhams dedication and commitment to children and education in Leicester.

The Lord Mayor presented Mrs Needham with a bouquet of flowers.
