Purpose:
To give approval to the construction of the
Putney Road Project. This includes work at the junction of
Aylestone Road/Saffron Lane, and along Putney Road West and
Commercial Square.
Decision:
i.
approve construction of the Putney Road
highway improvements within the city boundary as detailed in the
business case submitted to the Department for Transport.
ii.
note that the funding for the scheme will come from the
Government’s National Productivity Investment Fund together
with contributions from the City Council (as included in the
capital programme).

Note: This decision was Called-In under Rule 12 of Part
4D of the Council’s Constitution.
The Call-In was considered by the Economic Development Transport
& Tourism Scrutiny Commission at its meeting on 25th
October 2018 where it was withdrawn by resolution of the Commission
in accordance with Rule 12 (g) of Part 4 of the Council’s
Constitution. The original decision
taken on 5th October 2018 is, therefore, deemed to be
revived in its entirety.
Reasons for the decision:
To progress the implementation of a scheme to
improve the junction of Aylestone
Road/Saffron Lane to allow traffic to enter and exit the junction
from Putney Road, providing a new link connecting the A426 and
A5199.

The project has been subject to public
consultation and design review with stakeholders.
